Take Part in MT Local Government

Our Manheim Township community and our democracy thrive when we take part in local government. Let’s act to protect and advance the things we love about living in Manheim Township: good schools that prepare our kids for the rest of life; amenities like pools and a library; safety and security; and parks and greenspace.

Become a Candidate for Local Office

Our local government consists of two deliberative bodies to which we elect candidates on odd-numbered years: a five-member Board of Commissioners and a nine-member School Board. We also elect a tax collector every four years.

The Manheim Township Democrats offer support and assistance to candidates in Manheim Township seeking local office. Fill out the form below to contact us with any questions you have about what it takes to run for local office, how to put on a campaign, and what the Manheim Township Democratic Committee can do to help you get elected.

Volunteer to Serve on a Manheim Township Board of Committee

There are also several committees and advisory boards made up of volunteers that apply for spots and are appointed by the commissioners. These committees and boards meet to come up with recommendations for local government. Some examples are The Agricultural Farm Advisory Committee, Library Foundation Board, Parks and Recreation Board, Planning Commission, Youth Council and the Zoning Hearing Board. Go to the Manheim Township Government webpage about boards and commissions for the full list and a description of each.

If you are interested in serving on any of these committees or boards, visit this Manheim Township Government webpage about how to engage in local government and download the volunteer application.
