Oct. 26 Forum on Government Transparency
Consider attending a FREE forum in Manheim Township on government accountability and transparency featuring Terry Mutchler, sponsored by the Lancaster County Democratic Committee.
We may expect transparency and accountability from our elected officials, but we often don’t get much of either! Pennsylvania received a grade of “F” for “transparency and accountability” from the Center for Public Integrity in 2015, bad enough to be ranked 45 out of the 50 states. Terry Mutchler is a nationally-recognized expert on government transparency and an award winning journalist who was tapped by Governor Rendell in 2009 to run the then newly created Office of Open Records.
Terry is coming to Manheim Township on Saturday, October 26 to speak about the rights of citizens to know what government is doing (according to the Open Records- and Sunshine Laws), how to recognize when government is violating those rights, and how to assert those rights in the face of unaccountable and non-transparent government.
This event is free and open to the public. Terry will speak on “Knowing Your Rights Under PA’s Open Records and Sunshine Laws” and then there will be time for discussion and questions moderated by MT resident and former director of PA Common Cause, Barry Kauffman.
